Michał MerczyńskiThe mission of the National Audiovisual Institute (NInA) is not only to digitalise the Polish audiovisual heritage, but also to make it accessible and to promote active participation in culture. At our disposal, we have a number of tools that we wish to use to communicate with the audiences already familiar with culture as well as with those who are younger or complete beginners - children and teenagers. We want to turn culture into an important value in their lives. To make it happen, NinA is involved in a number of initiatives that bring the Polish audiovisual culture closer to this extremely critical and demanding audience. It releases DVDs and runs two dedicated websites - www.nina.gov.pl and www.dwutygodnik.com - which are designed to suit the needs and interests of different age groups and can become the first modern tools facilitating their close encounters with culture. In thinking about the cultural heritage and its promotion, the significance of the young audience is all too often underestimated. This makes the standing and the role of the International Young Audience Festival Ale Kino! even more pronounced in the Polish cultural life, as the festival consistently and passionately educates generations of sensitive and conscious audiences and creators of culture. It gives them an opportunity to experience and appreciate quality Cinema from the earliest age. Michał Merczyński |
