Ladies and gentlemen,
The 28th edition of the International Young Audience Film Festival Ale Kino!, which has been consistently promoting the cinema for the youth, is one more occasion to emphasise the role and importance of this event, well-reputed for shaping young people's cinematic sensitivity.
We are all aware of what a difficult art it is to make children's films, which are not only supposed to entertain, but also to teach. Films that the organisers have selected for the festival because of their artistic and educational merit make up an exciting mosaic of pictures from different cultures, often told in an extremely original voice. Importantly, they are a fantastic opportunity for the young to become familiar with the latest artistic production. For teachers, in turn, this comprehensive selection is a chance to choose films that make it possible to go off the beaten track of commercial routines which bear heavily on the tastes of the young audience. The tradition of this festival is to arrange meetings with directors, actors and film professionals from around the world to complement film screenings, as well as to hold debates of filmmakers aimed at helping young audience to understand their work. It is thanks to this kind of initiatives that young festival-goers stand a chance of becoming an informed audience of the cinematic art in the future.
I wish all participants plenty of exciting experiences and emotions while watching film stories. I wish all the artists in the competition plenty of recognition from the fantastic, young audience.
