Ladies and gentlemen,

It is already the 28th International Young Audience Film Festival Ale Kino!, an event whose role in promoting film education among the youth is difficult to overestimate. It often shapes their taste, imagination and sensitivity. It is thanks to this festival that another generation of people who see films as unique works of art is growing up. It is at this festival where they have an opportunity to experience such films. The best evidence of how important film education among young people is to the Polish Film Institute, is our School Film Archive programme that has been enthusiastically received since its inception. In a lot of schools, cinema history classes, coupled with film screenings, have become one of students' favourite lessons. Thanks to the School Film Archive we stand a chance of bringing up the next generation of young but informed audience, true cinema lovers.

The youth are not only the audience of this unique festival, but they also take decisions about who is going to win Marcin Award. I would like to wish all festival-goers a lot of unforgettable screenings, and all jury members plenty of fruitful discussions.
