A powerful story of tyrany and justice told with honesty and originality, with great performances by the young actors.

A wonderfully colourful entertainingly told story of a boy's determination to transform his destiny.


Young Audience Film Award:

"The be all and end all"-dir. Bruce Webb

The filmmakers have taken a very sensitive and difficult subject and have handled it skillfully and unsentimentally with great humour. A celebration of true friendship told from the young people's perspective. Great performances by the young actors.


Special Mention:

"Samson and Delilah" - dir. Warwick Thornton

Non-traditional love story told in a very bold and uncompromising way. The story was brilliantly visually executed.

 
Special mention for Short:

Daughters" - dir. Chloé Zhao

Beautifully stylised, restrained film that explores a strong social issue.

An energised coming of age story set in a difficult world, successfully connecting ancient folklore with challenges of contemporary life.
